Evangelism and Hospitality

I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord." Psalm 122:1

Community United Methodist Church seeks to be intentional about building relationships with unchurched persons as well as continuing to be an invitational and welcoming congregation. Our goal is to be the link to involve persons in a relationship with Jesus Christ and to include them into the family of God.

The Pastor and leadership of Community UMC continually encourage us to grow in our faith. Our walk with the Lord continues to deepen and we are encouraged to do this by actively participating in a small group, Bible study, at-home study, daily devotionals, prayer time, etc. John Wesley referred to this as partaking in God's "Sanctifying Grace."

Community offers a number of small groups, Sunday School classes, and special interest groups for spiritual growth. If you need to connect with a small group, contact Andrea Jenkins, small_groups@cumcvb.org.

The Upper Room is a daily devotional provided free of charge by the church. If you need a copy, they are available outside the church "bell tower" doors or you can contact David Collins, djcoll@icloud.com.

Prior to COVID-19, volunteers provided coffee, juice, and a hospitality table full of goodies in the hospitality area. This provided a great place to visit with friends, make new friends, and to catch up with people that you haven't seen in a while. Each week, a different group volunteered to man the hospitality table & provide the food. On the first Sunday of each month, there was a "potluck" Sunday where anyone could bring in one of your favorite goodies to share. Unfortunately, the hospitality area is not open during the pandemic and we look forward to the day when we can re-unite again for hospitality.

The Worship Support Team is dedicated to making your worship experience the best it can be. The team includes signage volunteers, parking lot attendants, greeters, check-in attendants, ushers, cleaners, and guest follow up volunteers. The team does their part to make all worshipers feel welcomed and comfortable. From there, the Holy Spirit does the rest! If you would like to become a part of the team, contact David Collins, djcoll@icloud.com.

Community provides a number of tools to assist you in inviting someone to church. There are wallet size and medium-sized invitational cards available. The wallet size cards are, of course, handy to keep in your wallet for easy access. While the medium-sized cards are not quite as accessible, they do provide more information and are great for anyone interested in attending a worship service. Prior to COVID-19, these cards could be found at various locations throughout the church. They had to be removed during this pandemic but if you need a supply, contact David Collins, djcoll@icloud.com.
